What is IEC Code ?
IMPORTER EXPORTER
CODE is a ten digit number granted by Directorate General of Foreign Trade
under Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to any bonafide person/company for
carrying out import/export.
Requirements
for applying IEC Code online
An application has
to be submitted online at http://www.ieccodeonline.com duly filled in along with documents
- I know it’s hard but you will have to use
Internet Explorer with java enabled and popup blocker disabled in your
browser setting.
- Scanned copy of the following in gif format
(compressed version of gif format)
1.
PAN
(both sides)
2.
applicant
Photograph
3.
Bank
Certificate
- Make sure that size of individual document
requires to be submitting online in gif /pdf format should not exceed 300
KB.
- Exporter must have a Net banking account with one
of the following designated banks
1. HDFC BANK
2. ICICI BANK
3. BANK OF INDIA
4. STATE BANK OF INDIA
5. CENTRAL BANK OF INDIA
6. PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK
7. IDBI
8. UTI/AXIS BANK
9. UNION BANK OF INDIA
Steps to Apply online
Step 1 - Go to http://www.ieccodeonline.com and Click on “Apply IEC Code Online” option. You will be prompted to enter your PAN. To Create a new IEC
Application. Fill in your details like -address including city , state, pincode , phone/fax , email, Date of Establishment, PAN date, PAN Issuing authority, Banker Name, Bank Account Number , Name and Designation of Person
Step 2 - Make a Payment of Rs. 3000 through online fund transfer from selected banks
Step 3 - Upload the documents based on your company formation (Number of documents depends on whether your company is sole proprietor, partnership, or registered) PAN Card , Photograph and Bank Certificate is mandatory for all the applicants.
Once the above documents are complete, you should get your Import Export Code in India quite fast. It is normally delivered to your address within 3 to 7 working days.
